To conclude this week dedicated to music, France Music Week invites you to a major free concert on June 21—the evening of the Fête de la Musique—in the Gardens of the Louvre Museum, broadcast live on France Télévisions and on Radio France’s ICI network.
This concert will be a celebration with meaning. As Victor Hugo once said, “Music is noise that thinks”. Artists from all backgrounds, ages, and genres will perform iconic songs that speak to us about the world and the society we live in. A time when our French and universal hopes for emancipation, peace, and progress are under threat. Over the years, music has built a legacy that has crossed generations and become part of humanity’s heritage.
Let us celebrate liberty, equality, and fraternity together.
The concert will highlight some of the most powerful songs from this heritage, including: The Partisan, What’s Going On, Résiste, Redemption Song, La Grenade, Un garçon pas comme les autres (Ziggy), What’s Up, and Noir et Blanc.
21 French and international artists will perform an exceptional show lasting almost 4 hours: Abd Al Malik, Alex Montembault, Bernard Lavilliers, Camille, Christine and the Queens, Jeanne Added, Kalash, Keren Ann, La Femme, Lous and the Yakuza, Major Lazer Soundsystem, Malik Djoudi, Marine, Max Baby, Miss Monique, Pene Pati, cellist Sol Gabetta as well as Solann, Thee Diane, Yodelice and Youssef Swatt’s. The latter will be accompanied by the Maîtrise Populaire de l’Opéra-Comique and eight gospel singers led by Prisca Vua.
On this exceptional occasion, a very special guest will also make a grand return: for the first time this summer, the Olympic cauldron will rise into the sky during the concert.
